Sugar Rush At A Glance

Released by Pragmatic Play in 2022, Sugar Rush abandoned reels and paylines in favour of a candy-filled board measuring seven positions across and seven down. Instead of matching symbols along a line, you are waiting for groups: five or more of the same sweet that touch one another vertically or horizontally. Sweets that only meet at a corner do not count, which surprises a lot of newcomers on their first session.

The feature everybody remembers is the multiplier that latches onto an individual position on the board and keeps doubling each time a fresh win appears in that same spot. Why A 7×7 Board Changes The Pace

Forty-nine positions give the tumble feature far more room to work than a standard five-reel layout. 1. A group of sweets pays and disappears; every position it covered is now flagged.
2. A later win lands on a flagged position, so that position receives a x2 multiplier tile.

4. When one paying group covers several multiplier tiles, the values are combined by addition and the total is applied to that win. Tiles worth x8, x16 and x32 give x56.
5. Outside the free spins round, every flag and tile is erased when the spin ends.

Point five is where most of the confusion about this game comes from. During normal play the board resets completely between spins, so all the accumulation has to happen inside one spin. The free spins round removes that limit, and that is the whole reason the feature is so much more valuable than ordinary betting.
